Cup Manager compared with Profixio

Cup Manager and Profixio are two of the most widely used tournament management systems in the Nordic countries. Here we compare them point by point. The information about Profixio comes from Profixio's own pages and was collected in October 2026, with sources at the bottom.

In short

Cup Manager is built for the organiser of a cup and handles the whole event: registration, payment, draws, scheduling, referees, accommodation and meals, check-in, results, website and app. Profixio is a broader platform for federations, leagues and cups.

Scheduling

Cup Manager's scheduler is built on constraint programming, an established branch of AI research. Its foundation is a master's thesis in computer science at Lund University, written for tournaments the size of Gothia Cup with up to 1,600 teams and 4,500 matches. The rules you set are entered as hard requirements and are not traded off against each other with weights or penalty points. If they cannot all be met, you are told which day, match and rule it got stuck on.

Profixio's CupCom engine was developed by the research institute SINTEF in 2005–2006. It is sometimes said that this gives Profixio the edge in scheduling. Cup Manager's engine has the same kind of scientific foundation, and it is used by the largest tournaments: both Gothia Cup and Norway Cup build their match schedules in Cup Manager. According to SINTEF, Norway Cup's match schedule was previously delivered by their researchers.

In Cup Manager you build the schedule yourself. Scheduling is included in the price, you can rerun it as many times as you like, and workshops for building the schedule are part of the support. Read more about how the scheduler works and about AI scheduling.

Price and support

Profixio has a lower price per team. Cup Manager's price includes things that Profixio charges extra for: unlimited support and training, on-call support during the tournament days, and help with the match schedule. See Cup Manager's pricing.

Which system suits whom?

Profixio is a good fit for federations and organisations that want leagues, licences and cups on the same platform, and for anyone who wants fully web-based administration.

Cup Manager suits anyone who organises a cup and wants the whole event in one system: from registration and payment to accommodation, meals, referees, check-in, live results, website and a dedicated app. That applies to local tournaments with 30 teams as well as the world's largest youth tournaments.
